Kim Yong-nam Stresses Democratic Korean Government’s Confidence in Syria’s Victory over the Crisis
Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly of Democratic Korea, Kim Yong-nam, stressed the Democratic Korean government’s absolute confidence that Syria will come victorious out of the crisis facing it thanks to the unity of the Syrian people and army with the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad.
Yong-nam’s assertion came during a meeting with the Syrian delegation to the meetings of the Syrian-Democratic Korean Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, headed by Minister of Culture, Lubanah Mshaweh.
Both sides underscored the deep strategic relations binding the friendly countries and peoples and the common desire to enhance these relations.
The dimensions of the international conspiracy targeting Syria were reviewed during the meeting, including the pressures practiced by the Western countries, the US and the international Zionism to undermine the steadfastness of the Syrian people.
Talks also dealt with the tense situation in the Korean Peninsula.
Yong-nam expressed thanks to Syria, people and leadership, for its supportive stances towards his country, reiterating at the same time Democratic Korea’s support to the Syrian people.
For her part, Minister of Culture Mshaweh considered that the convening of the Syrian-Democratic Korean Committee’s meetings under the current circumstances is an evidence on the two friendly countries’ desire to continue and further boost the historical ties binding them.
Mshaweh discussed with its Democratic Korean counterpart and the accompanying Syrian delegation the cultural cooperation between both sides, particularly in the field of expert exchange and music and cinema artistic shows.
In another context, Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Ahmad Arnous, and Democratic Korean Deputy Foreign Minister, Kim Jang-hyun, discussed the bilateral relations, with Arnous reviewing the conspiracy targeting Syria.
Arnous touched upon the role played by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, under the US instruction, in supporting the armed terrorist groups, highlighting that the scheme is aimed at undermining Syria’s principled stances in support of the resistance and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
In turn, the Democratic Korean Deputy Foreign Minister explained the situation in the Korean Peninsula and the U.S. and South Korean threats against his country.
Both sides stressed the importance of continuing mutual support at the international forums and expressed their confidence that the Syrian and Democratic Korean people will achieve victory over the conspiracy targeting their countries.
The meetings were attended by the Charge d’ Affaires at the Syrian Embassy in Pyongyang.
