MESSAGE OF THE WORKERS’ PARTY (TURKEY) TO THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE OF PUBLIC MEETINGS IN DENMARK AGAINST A WAR ON IRAN

Workers’ Party (Turkey) Deputy Chairman and Chair of the International Relations Bureau send a message to the organizing committee of public meetings in Denmark against a war on Iran.

The message is below:

There has been no period in history in which the sovereignties and territorial integrities of Iran, Syria, Iraq and Turkey have become as interdependent as they are today. In all versions of the Great Middle East Project of the USA, a major invariant is the puppet state in Northern Iraq whose sustainability requires its expansion towards the North (Turkey), towards the West (Syria) and towards the East (Iran). This puppet state is meant to serve the US as a “Second Israel”, from where  not only the Middle East, but the entire Asia can be attacked.

The ethnic and religious fault lines in these four countries are interconnected. The deepening of a conflict as a consequence of manipulation of any one of these fault lines is to trigger social earthquakes in the neigboring countries as well. We, as the Workers’ Party (Turkey), defend and support the construction of a West Asian Union as one of the most effective measures against both covert destructive activities and open military interventions into the region by imperialism.

One of the biggest obstacles to friendship and peace in the region is, unfortunately, the present AKP administration in Turkey headed by Tayyip Erdogan, who has openly admitted several times that he is acting as a co-chair of the Great Middle East Project. It is under his administration that the invasion of Iraq by the US was supported, the Missile Shield against Iran was located in Turkey and some “refugee camps” in Turkey were being turned into military bases for terrorist activities against Syria. There is no doubt about that the vast majority of the people in Turkey defends peace and friendship with all our neighboring peoples and opposes the administration of the country being turned into a subcontractor of imperialism. We, as Workers’ Party (Turkey) are very well aware of our revolutionary responsibility and  will not allow Turkey to get driven militarily against either Syria or Iran.

We also attach great importance to international solidarity in preventing imperialist interventions into the Middle East. Under current circumstances, such military interventions may lead to regional wars, which, in turn, may trigger a new world war.

We thus wholeheartedly support your activities against a war on Iran and wish you every success.

No to war against Iran! No to war against Syria!
