Palestines UN-Bearable Conditions. A sit-in of the patients of the incurable diseases in Al-Badawi Camp

The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine committee of the right of return and the committee of Patients suffering from incurable diseases carried out a sit-in in front of the UNRWA clinic in the Al-Badawi refugee camp, demanding that the UNRWA increases its health services. The sit-in was also attended by the representatives of the Palestinian factions, popular committees, social and civil institutions, in addition to a crowd of patients.

The sit-in included a speech for the secretary of the committee of the right of return, Abu Feras Ahmad who called on the UNRWA to address the demands of the patients who suffer at the doors of the hospitals. He also demanded the UNRWA to increase the services for the patients of cancer and other incurable diseases. Abu Feras stressed that the policy of hospitalization does not meet the minimum needs of the refugees who suffer from chronic diseases.

Ibrahim Saleh called on the director-general to respond to the needs of the patients as follows:

Increasing the public budget and rationalizing expenses according to the needs of the refugees in Lebanon in a way that guarantees providing proper services.

Doubling the proportion of the contribution of the UNRWA in covering the cost of the large operations such as the heart, cancer, neurological diseases, dialysis, thalassemia, laboratory tests and radiographs.

Building a private hospital to the refugees and providing medicine for incurable and chronic diseases.

Providing the health card promised by the director-general for the patients of chronic diseases.

Including the contribution of the UNRWA in covering heart and arteries diseases.

Then Fadia Aiadi handed a memorandum on behalf of the follow-up committee to Al-Badawi services manager to be submitted to the director of the UNRWA.
