Syria, Kalashinkovs and Weapons of Mass Destruction.

This article is written by a Syrian citizen who is an engineer and known by the editor of nsnbc. nsnbc is publishing this article as a “statement” by a citizen of Syria, which to the best of the editors knowledge is representative of the thoughts and sentiments of the overwhelming majority of Syrians. nsnbc is publishing this article to give a voice to this majority, which is silenced by strongly biased Western main Stream Media.         – Christof Lehmann – nsnbc editor.

By Iyad Khuder. When Russia asked the international community to stop sending weapons to militant groups in Syria, USA replied: “Russia has also to stop militarizing Syria!” And the media of the Arabic Gulf repeated the echo of this American answer and dedicated a lot of time to talk about the “Russian weapons used by Syrian regime!” and this complain of the Russian weapons is being heard by common people in Syria who hosted the military groups in their quarters.

It is a weird way of constructing a reality, in fact, I don’t know how this comparison can make sense at al.

According the same American logic I, as a Syrian citizen, wonder about the arsenal of American weapons in the Arabic Gulf and Israel!

Let’s classify weapons into:

– Individual weapons, such as guns, hand bombs and RPJ:

If THIS is what is meant by “weapons”, the militant groups are equipped with weapons of much better quality! It’s funny to complain of “Russian weapons” referring to the “Russian gun”, because while Syrian soldiers hold ONLY Russian guns, militant rebels hold all kinds of guns ( including American snipers, Israeli guns … and Russian ones!)

Then Russian gun is available everywhere in all coins of the world, so it’s funny to blame Russia if Syrian soldiers are using it!

– Heavy weapons and military systems, such as air defense systems, Air forces, navy forces and RADAR systems:

If complaining about “Russian guns” sounds funny to me, then complaining about the second kind of weapons, such as air defense systems, makes me angry!

Because this shows what it is all about! It is about the “Israeli worries!” When the USA talks about the Russian weapons, it doesn’t really care about the Syrian people. We still remember the “Phosphoric weapons” used against Gaza and Lebanon. At that time, the USA was sending more and more weapons to Israel and didn’t want to stop the war although they were being aware of its direct use against civilians.

However, let it be clear to the world that Syria is not depending on Russia in the traditional military domain. The Russian support is restricted to the strategic and high-tech domains. Although Syria is theoretically classified as “Third world,” Syria is developed enough to produce home-made weapons, including telecommunication systems, electronic war technologies and missiles (Sayed Hasan Nasrallah has recently confessed that missiles used during the Israeli aggression on Lebanon July 2006 were in fact Made In Syria). Syria is actually paying the bill, as many neutral observers believe.

A Syrian man said to some Russian media: “We blame Russia because the Syrian army is killing us with Russian guns and tanks!” I’m not here to discuss weather Syrian army is killing civilians or militants, and who is responsible of the victims, but I’m just discussing the point of “Russian weapons”, so I wonder:

DOES THE WORLD EXPECT FROM A COUNTRY THAT IS BEING CONFRONTED BY ISRAEL TO BE WITHOUT TANKS AND GUNS?

Well, if the answer is logically “Of course not, but those weapons shouldn’t anyway be used against civilians.”

I will say that:

We are hearing in the media a lot about “Russian weapons used by the Syrian army” because Miss Clinton talked about it?

Syria has been always sanctioned by the west for the “security of Israel”. I don’t find any other reason; if anybody knows another reason, please tell me!

The USA justifies the embargo against Syria by saying that Syria is supporting terrorism. And when you ask about the “terrorism supported by Syria”, you know that it is the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance against Israel, who is still occupying Palestinian, Lebanese and Syrian land!

Russia, and previously the Soviet Union, was almost the only power that supported Syria and Arabic countries in their confrontation with Israel starting by the triple aggression (UK, France and Israel) on Egypt in 1956, passing through the war of October 1973 when the Russian anti-aircrafts SAM made a difference and prevented Israel from reaching Damascus, and ending by this western-Arabic gulf aggression on Syria, when the Russian standing giant put a limit to the American arrogance and prevented another Libya.

To those who talk in terms of “revolution” and “democracy” and shout: “Russia has to stop supporting dictatorship,” I would ask them:

Who was supporting Hosni Mubarak?! Was it Russia or USA and Israel?
Who was supporting the “Shah of Iran” before the Iranian revolution in 1979? Was it Russia or USA and Israel?
And who has always been supporting the pre-historical kingdoms in the Arabic Gulf? Is it Russia or USA and Israel?

I also would like to tell Russian people who feel “guilty” of the Russian support to Syrian government and are subject to critics in the media of the kind: “Russia is supporting dictatorship,” I would say (without discussing in this article weather Syrian government is more dictator than the surrounding regimes in the Middle East, and less democratic than western countries themselves who have, for instance, blocked Syrian official media while giving Syria lessons in freedom of expression):

The Russian government has always confirmed that Russia is not pro- or anti- Syrian government, but it simply seeks to help Syria bypassing the crisis in political ways and protect Syrian people from foreign intervention (at least in its direct meaning as in Libya), also to prevent imposing another “regime” that is designed according to the western measures as in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya, especially (still reporting what Russian diplomacy said) that Syrian president is still having the approval of the majority of Syrian people.

Russia (Soviet Union) helped Egypt building the dam at the Nile at the age of “Jamal Abd el Naser” that gave life to people of Egypt, while USA helped Egypt building the dam at the borders with Gaza that gave death to people of Gaza!
RUSSIA HAS ALWAYS PLAYED A NOBLE ROLE TO THE PEOPLE OF THE ARABIC WORLD;
RUSSIA DIDN’T TAKE A PART OF THE “ARABIC CAKE” IN “SIKES-PICO”
SYRIA WAS OCCUPIED BY THE GRANDFATHERS OF ERDUGAN AND THE FRENCH ZIONIST HENRI LIFI, NOT BY THOSE OF PUTIN AND LAVROV
RUSSIA IS SAVING SYRIAN PEOPLE, NOT THE PERSON OF SYRIAN PRESIDENT, NOT THE “REGIME” AS MAIN STREAM MEDIA IS REPEATING DAY AND NIGHT
NATO MISSILES WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THE HEADS OF SYRIANS WEATHER THEY ARE ANTI- OR PRO-BASHAR!
I regret how some Syrians are lead by what “TV” tells (referring to what that man said about Russian weapons): IT IS SO SAD TO FORGET WHEN RUSSIAN SAM SAVED MY FAMILY AND HIS FAMILY IN OCTOBER 1973…
Regarding the use of Russian weapons in the Syrian conflict, it is not the responsibility of Russian government anyway, but Russia simply prevented what is much worse: A foreign military intervention that would not bring peace to the country, but it would “add oil to the fire!” And Syrian army, as any other army in the world has the right to get develop itself with all traditional weapons and defense systems against any potential intervention, and this is the case.

I think, after all this explanation, it is just fair to say:
Spasipa Russia!
