Turkey Indictment of Israel over Gaza Flotilla Killings of Nine Turks covering up for Turkey / Israel Co-operation in Murders and Preparations of War on Syria.
Christof Lehmann – Last year nsnbc reported that a reliable Palestinian Intelligence Source in Turkey, known to nsnbc´s editor, provided information and documentation for that the murder of nine Turkish citizens on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla vessel Mavi Marmara was a joint Turkish-Israeli operation with the purpose ti liquidate nine members of the Turkish Muslim Brotherhood and related organizations who were opposed to the military aggression against Syria. Another utility of the joint-venture homicide operation was to boost public support for Turkish P.M. R. Tayyip Erdogan, to provide him with sufficient political back-bone to rid the Turkish High Command of secular generals who were opposed to a Turkish military aggression against Syria – euphemistically called “The Arab Spring or the Syrian Unrests. What turned out to be a push-over in Libya, however, is opposed by a surprisingly resilient Syrian government, military and population. After NATO´s abuse of UNSC Resolution 1973 – 2011 on Libya, Russia and China vehemently oppose another of NATO´s “Humanitarian Wars” in Syria. Erdogan is increasingly missing public support for the war, and a show trial against Israel is likely utilized to boost his public image and support.(1)
An Istambul court has voted unanimously to approve an indictment against Israel´s former Military chief Lt.Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, as well as the former heads of Israel´s navy, air-force intelligence, and military intelligence, Eliezer Marom, Amos Yadlin, and Avishai Levi. The accused are facing the possibility of nine consecutive life term prison sentences for “inciting to kill monstrously, and by torturing“.
The Mavi Marmara was part of a flotilla of civilian vessels with unarmed peace activists and advocates for Palestinian Rights on board. The flotilla was supposed to break Israel´s illegal maritime blockade and de-facto siege of the Gaza Strip. On 31 May 2010 the Turkish registered vessel bound for Gaza was intercepted in international waters by Israeli commandos. Nine Turkish citizens were shot execution style.
Subsequent to the Israeli act of piracy and high crimes in international waters, P.M Erdogan delivered a flaming speech against the crimes of Israel which was internationally televised. Turkey severed all diplomatic ties and ceased it´s military co-operation and trade relations with Israel. That is, Turkey did so for a few weeks, after which it silently “normalized” it´s relations with Israel. The plan had worked.
The plan had worked, because it had delivered on all of the utilities that were planned and part of the joint-Israeli-Turkish intelligence operation. A very well placed and reliable Palestinian Intelligence Source in Turkey informed nsnbc in January 2012, that the Gaza Flotilla killings were a precursor of the War on Syria. (ibid.)
On board the Mavi Marmara, responsible for the Turkish/NATO part of the implementation of the operation was no other than the commander of the Al-Qaeda associated Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, Abdelhakim Belhadj and his second in command Harati. The Libyan Islamic Fighting Group of course, had a couple of name changes since NATO´s successful operations in Libya. It is now better known as Tripoli Military Council and Free Syrian Army, and Belhadj is at the present time in command of some 18.000 Al Qaeda fighters in Syria who style them selves “Free Syrian Army”.
The nine Turkish citizens were prominent or influential members of the Turkish Muslim Brotherhood who had become a liability with respect to the Muslim Brothers co-operation with NATO against Syria. Their death secured that the Turkish Brothers closed ranks. Their death also provided a much needed publicity boost to P.M. R.Tayyip Erdogan.
His flaming speech against Israel helped him gain sufficient public support to challenge the Turkish Military High Command and fire some of the most secular Generals who would have opposed a cooperation with the Muslim Brothers and Al Qaeda in a war against secular, Baathist Syria.
The covert NATO war on Syria however has developed into a protracted conflict rather than being a push over like Libya. After the joint UN/NATO declaration in 2008 was ratified NATO is increasingly planning to use the “Responsibility to Protect” as pretext for challenging the national sovereignty of nations it has destabilized. (2)After NATO had shown how it abused UNSC Resolution 1973-2011 in Libya Russia and China consequently block for another NATO war under the pretense of the UN/NATO “responsibility to protect”. The consequence – a covert NATO war that increasingly escalates in massacres on Syrian civilians like the latest one in Homs, were families and children were targets for NATO´s “protection by proxy”.
The Istambul courts ruling to indict Israel´s former Military chief Lt.Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, as well as the former heads of Israel´s navy, air-force intelligence, and military intelligence, Eliezer Marom, Amos Yadlin, and Avishai Levi for “inciting to kill monstrously, and by torturing” and not least the demands for the harsh sentences, nine consecutive life time sentences for each of the indicted, will most likely be utilized by Erdogan to re-boost his public support.
If any of the indicted ever is sentenced or serving one day in prison remains to be seen. Israel is traditionally very protective of it´s military and intelligence staff who are facing international indictments. Another question is if there ever will be placed a political responsibility for the murders, and if it is, where an investigation would lead. The word does not become a safer, nor a more just place by offering pawns for PR-purposes while the Kings remain on the chessboard.
