Clinton Cluster Bombs and Claims of Victory.

Hillary Clinton is the highest U.S. Official to visit Libya since the toppling of the legitimate Libyan government. Clinton´s “surprise visit” was followed with one more “hilarious” claim of victory, and a NATO PR-Withdrawal of Sweden from Libya to elicit the progress in it´s military campaign. Western corporate media focus on Hillary and Mahmud, photo op´s at a hospital, the humanitarian narrative, and the “Ghadafi, wanted dead or alive”  statement, while NATO dropped phosphor bombs on Bani Walid.          by Dr. Christof Lehmann

What a logistical nightmare it must have been for the Secret Service and NATO Intelligence to deliver Clinton save to Tripoli. Heavy fighting around Tripoli airport and the plateau of Abu Salim would have rendered her plane vulnerable to attack. So was she smuggled into Tripoli by boat? More likely. One could almost see on the smirk on her face when she confronted a selection of compliant media together with Jibril, that she was “turned on” by the adventure. After years together with her Coke addicted husband and former U.S. President William Jefferson Clinton,  Hillary is used to be “turned on“, so who knows, may be Jibril and Hillary had a Coke and a smile before facing the press. Speculation beside though, some of the psychological symptoms of long term cokain abuse are illusions of grandeur, unstable mood, paranoia and aggressive behavior, which is a perfect description of the politics she represents with regards to Libya.

If any of the media that were present at the photo opportunity with Jibril would honor the ethics of their trade, what would have been on the headlines and front pages today would be “Rogue State Hillary Calls for catching Legitimate head of State in Libya Dead or Alive” or what about “Hillary at Humanitarian Photo Op in Hospital while NATO bombs Bani Walid with White Phosphor Bombs“. But no, the western corporate media are compliant and fulfilling precisely the function they are designed to fulfill, to keep the populations of the west in a comfortable state of slumber and illusion. A hospital photo opportunity in Tripoli is supposed to cover over the chaotic and disastrous situation in Sirte. The mere fact that Clinton publicly pronounces her hope that “Ghadafi soon will be killed or captured” should earn her an indictment for war crimes. How many heads of state has the U.S.A. murdered since the 60th.

NATO it´s political leadership is desperate for a victory, knowing that the domestic protests that rage in Europe and the USA, which so far have been well managed and controlled, could be co-opted by the people them selves, demanding an immediate halt to the murderous war. NATO is desperate, because in spite of months of massive military campaigns in Libya, the people of Libya and it´s military refuse to give one inch to the rack tag rebel army of mercenaries and their Special Forces Commanders without fighting for it. One of the CIA´s most favorite propaganda outlets, the Washington Post is trying to convince it´s readers of a coming victory, that is about as credible as the German Emperors promise to the German People, that the troops would come home before Christmas, at the onset of world war one. So what can NATO do to counter what is increasingly developing into a public relations disaster. Let Sweden withdraw it´s eight fighter jets. That´s what US Carriers have in spare parts anyways, may be the public will buy our victory narrative if we withdraw some Swedish jets, right. Or send some more from Qatar. The greatest problem both Hillary and NATO face is, that regardless what spin people believe, it does not substantially change the situation on the ground, and looking at the situation on the ground while speaking of a near victory would truly be “Hilarious” if it was not the Libyan population that was at the receiving end of NATO´s war crimes.

Tripoli and Abu Salim were again the target of NATO bombs, and heavy resistance continues to challenge the victory narrative of NATO throughout the city. In Sirte the front has stagnated, and one more area has been submerged in water. Even though territory is changing hands, and even though the city has been subject to a massive artillery and tank barrage, the resistance is holding on to the western part of the town. To know how costly, dangerous and agonizingly slow urban warfare is, one can study Stalingrad or Beirut during the Lebanese civil war. There is no easy victory for NATO, regardless how much Hillary would like to proceed and attack Syria, the people of Sirte are defying her majesties demand to surrender.

A Libyan reporter for nsnbc could inform that Bani Walid has been under massive attack from both land and air. TNC troops reportedly succeeded at securing an industrial district of Bani Walid, paying the price of massive casualties, and only after NATO planes used FAE bombs, that disperse a cloud of microscopic fuel particles in the air before exploding. The same weapon has previously been used by Israel, against civilian targets in Beirut. The reporter also witnessed the use of cluster ammunitions and phosphor. Also other sources report of NATO´s use of inhumane and illegal weapons against Bani Walid. Algeria ISP reported of the use of White Phosphor against Bani Walid.White Phosphor and FAE bombs are hardly weapons one would expect to be used by forces who just have to fight down a few remaining pockets of resistance.

The United States of America and NATO have one one astonishing victory though. Twenty years of illegal wars from Afghanistan to Kosovo, to Iraq, Ossetia, Chechnya, Ivory Coast, Libya, with Iran, Syria, Uganda and more already covertly ongoing, without an international community that demands the aggressive expansion of the Anglo American Empire to halt, is an unprecedented victory. NATO has won a massive propaganda victory against it´s own populations who calmly accept that the same Al Qaeda that is used for ever more fascist clamp downs on civil liberties and rights is used as infantry in illegal wars against sovereign states.  How long will it be allowed to continue is an entirely different question.
